Hazop studies, mine waste water treatment plants
project outline
ArcelorMittal Mining Canada (AMMC) operates an open-pit mine for the extraction of iron ore and the production of iron ore concentrate in Mont-Wright, Quebec. The site’s activities produce a significant amount of waste water containing suspended solid materials.
The mandate awarded to Groupe Alphard by Wood/AMMC was to complete a HazOp (hazard and operability) review for the construction of two new waste water treatment plants on site. The HazOp study was intended to study risks related to the operation of these new plants.
Engineering documentation for each new plant included 14 process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for review. Groupe Alphard prepared and led risks analysis meetings and presented a detailed overview of identified risks and mitigation measures to be implemented.
